I am not sure who the parents of this Thomas are. I used to have them as Edward Sleath and Alice Nickerson, but they settled in Grimston and had another son called Thomas.
This Thomas may be the son of Thomas Sleath and Sarah Hunt of Gilmorton.
Or it could be he is entirely a different Tom, as the Sleaths were congenitally incapable of giving their offspring original names.

Thomas Sleath aged 25 was transported in 1840 on board the Woodbridge. It sailed from London 16 Oct 1839 and arrived NSW 26 Feb 1840 with a sailing time of 133 days. His occupation was given as Labourer. He was sentenced to 15yrs for sheep stealing. He was granted a Ticket of Leave on 14th Feb 1846 in Moreton Bay (now in Queensland) He married an Irish Orphan named Margaret Leonard from Galway Ireland and had three children, William, Sarah and Ann. He was employed as a boatman and lighthouse keeper with the Harbourmasters Department on Sydney Harbour. He died 3rd Nov 1861. On his death certificate his father was Gabriel Sleath butcher, and his mother Ann White from Gilmorton.
